The Language Training Center was founded in 1999 within Samara State University of Economics. Its aim is to provide students with specialist knowledge of foreign languages which will be helpful in their future professional carrier. LTC includes:
Interpreters' Department. It educates approximately 250 students each year, its program is academic in focus and equips students with all necessary skills needed for their future career as interpreters in the sphere of professional communication. At the end of the course students get diplomas of additional higher education.
LTC is distinguished as a leader in innovative curriculum design for foreign students wishing to learn the Russian Language. Depending on their needs, interests and abilities, students may choose a full-time intensive day program or day part-time classes. Some of the features of the various programs are described below.
Intensive Courses of the Russian Language which can be developed for different levels:
These are comprehensive language courses in which students practice all language skills: grammatical accuracy, fluency and pronunciation, listening and reading comprehension, and writing ability.
Intensive courses are offered at any time during the year as groups have been formed.
Instruction at the courses involves intensive class participation and active use of spoken and written Russian. Language is presented in contexts that, depending on the students' command of Russian, may simulate daily-life situations, focus on Russian society and customs, or explore issues of worldwide concern. Course work at all levels is designed to develop grammatical accuracy, fluency and pronunciation, listening and reading comprehension, and writing ability. Our instructors provide s tudents with variety of activities and personal teaching styles.
Living in Samara
A number of rooms in University housing on or near campus are available to all students, participating in Language Programs. While single rooms are available, some students can live in families or rent a flat. All rooms can be reserved in advance.
Entertainments
Our students are encouraged to participate fully in campus and city life. Sometimes field visits or theatre nights are planned by individual classes. Walking tours through various neighborhoods and visits to families in surrounding communities are also scheduled. Discount tickets to concerts, operas, and plays are frequently available.
